WFH Office Design Trends, Part 2: Creating a View, Carving Out Space

“By maximizing daylight, embracing the surrounding landscape, and allowing simplicity to take center stage, a WFH office can be the most productive workspace and also the most peaceful,” says Heather Weisz, principal at HW Interiors in Wellington, Florida.

The office she designed for a lakefront home on Lake Keowee, South Carolina, makes the case. “This workspace embraces the surrounding landscape, allowing natural light and panoramic water views to become part of the design,” she explains. “The expansive windows blur the line between indoors and out, creating an environment that feels calm, open, and deeply connected to nature.”

Restraint was the strategy. “The goal was not to compete with the view, so the office is intentionally restrained,” Weisz says. “A contemporary oak desk anchors the room with clean architectural lines, while a curated palette of warm woods, soft neutrals, and sculptural furnishings creates a workspace that feels both sophisticated and comfortable.”
